This projection project started out as a small scale scrim mapping experiment and turned into a completely custom built 14ft tall art installation. The goal was to create an immersive experience both from inside and out, while maintaining the simplicity of using one projector to generate the entirety of the light. By testing various weights and densities of scrim fabric, a moderately sized projector was able to carry light through each piece of fabric successfully without any noticeable light depreciation. A large custom animation clip library was developed that focused on the dimensions and spacial effects. The result was a spectacular light show from every angle and particularly from the inside, where the viewer’s perceptions alluded to that of a hologram.
